Your Solution Lies in Your Strengths: How to Find Your Business Idea

Jun 03, 2025

Starting a business, or pivoting into a new direction, can feel overwhelming, especially as a new mom. There are so many possibilities, platforms, strategies, and voices shouting what you should do. Including the voice in your own head. But here’s what I believe to be true: your solution already exists within you. It lies in your strengths.

In my coaching program, and again in my own journey of entrepreneurship, I’ve seen a recurring theme: the moment you stop trying to do everything and instead lean into what you're already good at, momentum begins to build.

The Biggest Problem I See Entrepreneurs Face: Lack of Focus

We’re multi-passionate humans, and while that’s a beautiful thing, it can often dilute our energy. When you try to grow five different things at once, none of them thrive. But when you put your energy into one focused offer for one specific person, your impact (and income) grows much faster.

So… What Should You Focus On?

This is where my 3 Ps Framework comes in. It helps you get clarity around your niche and how to turn your strengths into something meaningful and profitable!

The 3 Ps Framework

Draw a simple Venn diagram with three overlapping circles labeled:

1. Proficiencies
List everything you're good at, even if it feels silly or simple. This might include cooking, creating spreadsheets, decorating kids' birthday parties, calming toddlers, designing websites… whatever comes naturally to you.

2. People
List the types of people you’ve helped before (or would love to help). This could be a past version of yourself. You’re best equipped to help someone walk the path you’ve already taken! Or someone in your world who you deeply understand.

3. Passions
What lights you up? What could you talk about for an hour with no preparation? What kinds of things do you stay up late researching, reading, or watching videos about?

When you overlap at least two of these categories, you often uncover a viable business idea. When all three intersect… magic happens!

Real-Life Example

When I first left corporate, I didn’t pursue the thing I was most passionate about which was moon circles, prenatal yoga, and wellness industry lated activities. Those lit me up, but they weren’t paying the bills for me at the time.

What did work? Website design. I was already proficient in it, creative entrepreneurs needed it, and I enjoyed making things beautiful and functional. That simple skill became my first profitable offer, and it gave me the freedom to eventually evolve my business.

Your Turn

Create your 3 Ps diagram. See what rises to the surface. What do people already come to you for help with? What’s something you do effortlessly that others find challenging?

You don’t need to learn something brand new to get started. You just need to recognize the value in what you already know!

Turn tiny pockets of time into serious progress.

When naptime comes and you have one hour to work on your dreams, it's easy to become paralyzed with indecision. Instead of wondering what to do next, I created the Power Hour Task Library so you can dive into a ready-made list of strategic actions you can take in just 15, 30, or 60 minutes.
